The Section Lead Upgrade (SLUG) checkride is designed to ensure that prospective LTs have a solid understanding of the VFA-81 SOP, and are capable of leading sections during combat operations.
This checkride is intended to be taken at any point after a member has acheived the rank of LTJG. It is intended to be proctored by any LT or higher, and ideally with an additional member qualified in the Air Intercept Control (AIC) and Carrier Air Traffic Controller Center qualification (CATCC).
The candidate will review all materials in the Air Tasking Order document below, and schedule a time with any eligible proctor.
