An SCL (Standard Conventional Load) code is a standardized naming convention is used to catalog acceptable munitions loadouts for different aircraft. A catalog of SCLs serves as a reference tool for mission makers, allowing them to quickly identify and assign specific types and quantities of munitions for various air operations. SCL codes can also be used to quickly relay a specific loadout over text. By using concise and easily interpretable codes, the SCL simplifies the process of configuring aircraft, making it easier to adapt missions to include new weapon types and configurations.
The basic pattern of an SCL is one or more munition elements seperated by a period (.). One munition type is a specified per element. Each element is lead by a number which indicates the quantity of that munition to carry on the airacraft.
For example:
2A65 = 2 x ASGM-65 Maverick
2M82.2A65 = 2 x Mk 82 Bombs, 2 x AGM-65 Maverick

A single number as the last element of the SCL represents the number of external tanks that SCL contains.
Certain loadout elements such as FLIR and ECM pods are assumed as part of a loadout when their inclusion is either mandatory or likely to already be attached to the aircraft.
For air-to-ground mission, air-to-air munitions are listed after air-to-ground munitions.
When listing air-to-air weapons, list long range weapons first, medium range weapons second, and short range weapons last.

Each air-to-ground weapon is prefixed with a letter indicating the type of weapon, followed by the two or three number designation of the weapon.
