Consult your squadron documentation for specific contract parameters such as airspeed and maneuvering Gs. Squadron SOP always takes precedence over group wide SOP in squadron events such as trainings or operations.
Where no squadron standard exists or is not applicable to the current flight, consider the following contract parameters:
Parameter | Value |
---|---|
Airspeed | 300-400kts KIAS |
Maneuvering G | 4G or to sustain airspeed |
Altitude | Lead always goes lower in a Cross |
In addition, leads should start maneuvers once their wingman acknowledges.
Generally assume that all tacform is intended to be initiated from a combat spread:
Defensive Combat Spread is used when the element is defensive in nature and the threat location is unknown.
Offensive Combat Spread is used when the element is offensive in nature and the threat location is known. In this situation the isolation of each fighter is desired.
Although the wingman should strive for line abreast with lead in these formations, it is generally acceptable to deviate a 1-3 thousand feet forward or backwards in DCS.
