The Airspace Special Instructions (SPINS) for Operation Liberty Rain provide standardized directives for coalition air operations in Hauran. These instructions ensure unity of effort across airspace, procedures, and communications without requiring repeated changes in each ATO. Compliance is mandatory for all flight leads and aircrew.
¶ Standard Units
- Time: Zulu (UTC). Local time: UTC+2.
- Positions:
- Ground fixed: Degrees Minutes Seconds (DMS).
- Dynamic: MGRS.
- Airborne: GEOREF BEARING DIST ALT.
- Measurements: Distances in NM. Altitudes in feet (MSL implicit, AGL explicit).
- Below FL180, use 14 CFR § 91.159 rules.
- Daytime: exclusive 2000 ft blocks between FL180–320.
- Nighttime: shared 4000 ft blocks between FL180–340.
- Emergency > Tanker/rejoined > 14 CFR §91.113 right-of-way.
Aircraft with emergencies operating East of the Tyriana FIR Transit corridor should not make any attempt to transit the corridor and make best effort to land at a designated diversion field East of the corridor.
