- What airspeed(s) provide for the best turn rate?
- 330-440kts. The F-16 has a corner platue instead of a specific best rate speed due to how the FCS intervenes in pilot's input commands.
- What airspeed(mach) provides the greatest instantaneous turn rate?
- M0.67-0.69
- What is the correct airspeed to enter a merge at?
- 450-480kts CAS. Above 480kts, turn radius significantly increases.
- What is the order of succession in a flight if lead is downed?
- 3-4-2

¶ Checkride Instructions
During the checkride the candidate will perform the role of Element Lead, and the Instructor will perform the role of Element Wingman. The Element Lead is responsible for commanding the Instructor to take any action in their benefit. The instructor will not follow any contract unless specified by Element Lead.
The Element Lead is encouraged to utilize the wingman to complete objectives as appropriate.
¶ General Requirements to Pass

The Element Lead will follow the Lead Navigation Contract in The Standard Contract at all times of cruise.

The Element Lead will observe other aspects of The Standard Contract as relevant, such as the Tacform maneuvering contract.
¶ Sortie 1
- The Element will take off from Incirlik Airbase and navigate to Waypoint 1.
- Provide the instructor with an alpha check to bulls.
- Navigate to Waypoint 2 as an IP for the AO.
- There is a Marine JTAC on the ground with TACAN 93X
VPR, tune the TACAN and fly towards it. - The JTAC will mark the target with red smoke. Locate the target, and place a markpoint on it. Send the markpoint to the instructor.
- Employ both GBU-24s on the target.
- REDFOR may launch interceptors from Gazipasa. Perform a full BVR timeline intercept, using the CATA queue to intercept any fighters. If the fight is pushed to the merge, use proper merge entry form.
- Return to Waypoint 1 and aerial refuel.
- If the candidate has not done a HOBS shot in the mission, locate the drone at Waypoint 1, 10000ft and perform a HOBS shot.
- Lead the element through the following tacform if not yet demonstrated during the mission:
- Tacturn
- Hook
- Cross
- Shackle
- Lead the element through an overhead break at Incirlik.
¶ Sortie 2
- The Element will take off from Incirlik Airbase and navigate to
Waypoint 1. - Navigate to the start of the low level route which is
Waypoint 2. - From Waypoint to
Waypoint 4, maintain less than 3000ft Radar Altitude. - Engage both SA-8s at
Waypoint 4using the HTS and Maverick. - Continue the low level.
- Engage the moving target between
Waypoint 7toWaypoint 9. - Lead the flight back to an overhead break at Incirlik.

- What should I do if I'm intercepted before employing a weapon?
- As element lead safety of the flight takes priority. Command a jettison if it is required for survival. You will not be penalized.
